In this world, there is always something tempting you to worry about. Don't give in to it. Be at peace - everything is going to be alright. God is at work even when you don’t see it or feel it. Trust Him to deliver you either from it or through it. Either way, God is with you and at work for you. REFUSE TO WORRY!
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
As followers of Christ, we are called to be different than the world, NOT weird, flaky, or fruity, BUT we are not to act like the world or blend in either. How to be different? Be kind, be merciful, bless those who mistreat you (not get even), speak words that build up not tear down, be joyful not mad, be at peace not always upset, live a righteous life - be salt and light - Be different I guarantee it will change your life.
Romans 12:2 (GNT)
Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.
For most freedom means doing whatever you want whenever they want—I’m going to do it my way. And the Lord does give us the freedom to choose and do what we want. However real champions for Christ decide to do what God wants. This means denying the flesh and surrendering our will to His. Today take a look at your life and the choices you’ve made. Are you doing things for yourself or for God? Did you commit your actions and plans to God or to something (or someone) else? Whose power, abilities, and ideas are you trusting? Are you choosing God’s way or your way?
Proverbs 16:1-9
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble. Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished. By steadfast love and faithfulness, iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord, one turns away from evil. When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice. The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
In today's culture, people take "pride" in being offended - they wear it like a badge. Instead we need to choose to be unoffendable. Now - probably some of you are offended by this. Forfeiting our right to anger (which is what being offended means) makes us deny ourselves, and makes us others-centered. When we start living this way, it changes everything. People say we have to get angry to fight injustice. Listen - anger does not enhance judgment. What do we do? Forgive and follow these instructions from the Apostle Paul - it's your choice
Romans 12:9-21
Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. But if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
Your future is bright - tomorrow-next week-next month-next year victory is yours in Jesus. Don't let the past or current circumstances define your life. Don't try to live your life looking in the rearview mirror. The past can be a useful guide, but don't let it be an anchor that drags you down. No matter how disappointing or problematic the past has been God is with you to help take you into the promised land! Let it start today!
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Every challenge and battle you are facing requires Godly wisdom to overcome them. Our leaders - church, and government - more than ever need Godly wisdom. The wisdom of man won't cut it - we see evidence of that every day on the news. You aren't going to make it with natural wisdom. Get the wisdom of God...
Proverbs 4:7
Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.
Are you going through a difficult situation? Are you feeling pressure? They will help you reach and live out your divine purpose if you keep moving forward. God uses every situation for your good. God does NOT create or cause the problems in your life, they just become part of the process of getting to your purpose. So, don’t be discouraged – keep going – you will get to the other side. God is with you!
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
God’s grace is His power and ability working in you and through you, it is God’s favor upon your life. There are things you face and deal with almost every day that you cannot handle in your own power and ability - but with more grace, you can. Take advantage of God's grace even now for your work, family, finances, leadership, etc. It requires God’s grace to deal with certain people. The good news is there is more grace available – BUT you have to take advantage of it and go after it – recognize it, and celebrate it! Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16) There is more grace for you – go after it!
James 4:6
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace (shows favor) to the humble.”

A single day in the presence of Jesus is by far more valuable and superior to all of the thousand best days the world can provide combined. The great news is as believers we can enjoy the presence of the Lord every hour of every day because He lives in us. We are now the temple of God. We don't have to go to Jerusalem to find His courts to be in His presence. However, often we are unaware of His awesome presence in our lives. We need to learn to practice the presence of God in our lives no matter where we are, regardless of what is going on, or what time it is. Nothing compares to being in and aware of His presence - enjoy it today and every day!
Psalm 84:10
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere;
How? In Christ. You ALWAYS overcome IF you are in Christ! In fact, John asked, “Who overcomes the world?” (1 John 5:5) He immediately answered: it’s the one who believes that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God! In the world, there are all kinds of problems - hunger, poverty, sickness, depression, discouragement, evil and wickedness. But you - are “in Christ”, and you will always overcome these problems IF – you stay in Christ. BUT if you look outside of Christ you will be overwhelmed by the troubles and the evil influences in the world. Jesus said, “Fear not in me, there’s peace”. That is Jesus’ word to you – take hold of it and believe it, and nothing in this world will be able to defeat you!
John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
If you’ve failed, God still allows do-overs. If you’ve made a wrong turn, God still allows U-turns. If you are tired, God still renews. If you’ve hit the proverbial wall or end of the rope, God still has a breakthrough for you. If you are breathing, God still has a plan for you. It’s never too late! Your best days are right in front of you.
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
There are some dogs I’m just a little leery of – rottweilers, pit bulls, even the little Chihuahuas nipping at my feet, but it’s not these kinds of dogs or any of the 4-legged variety of dogs we need to BEWARE of – but rather the two-legged kind – i.e. PEOPLE (certain types). At least this is the warning the Apostle Paul gives us.
The dogs Paul says to watch out for are people who are divisive, deceitful, devilish, and dishonest. These dogs – chew, attack, bite, bark, and chase, to get your focus off Jesus. They are false teachers, legalists, and religious, who manipulate the Word of God to draw people away from faith in Christ. Don’t be deceived. Be wise. Be cautious. Proceed with care. You don’t want to get bitten when you least expect it.
Philippians 3:2
"Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh."
You may be weak, but God is strong. You may sin, but God is merciful. You may fail, but God remains faithful! How great is our God!
Psalm 89:8 (CEV)
You are Lord God All-Powerful! No one is as loving and faithful as you are.
Real rest is not found in a nap. The easy life does not come from riches. Satisfaction isn't acquiring a lot of stuff. True rest and satisfaction come from God.
Matthew 11:28-29 (GW)
Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Place my yoke over your shoulders, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves
How do you know if your mission on Earth is finished? If you're alive, IT'S NOT! So, keep going - run the race set before. Keep your eyes on Jesus! You are here for a divine purpose - go for it.
Hebrews 12:1-2
And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith
Philippians 3:2
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!
God is omnipotent (all-powerful) when things seem impossible - remember God is greater He is omnipotent. God is omniscient (all-knowing - He knows the beginning to the end). When you don't know what to do, remember God does - He is omniscient. God is omnipresent (always present everywhere) When you feel alone, remember God is with you always no matter where you are - He is omnipresent. Great is our God!
Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
As a believer, you already have God’s favor. Favor is unmerited preferential treatment. As a child of God, He wants to favor you. The question is, will you receive it?? You receive God’s favor by faith like every other spiritual promise. God has promised you FAVOR for a lifetime! Believe and expect God's FAVOR - today and every day upon your life. Declare that favor surrounds you like a shield. There is no situation, no circumstance—nothing—that is stronger than the grace of God…the favor that surrounds you.
Psalm 5:12
For You, O Lord will bless the righteous; With favor, You will surround him as with a shield.
The worship of idols is the main reason for the downfall of Israel. They made many other mistakes, but it is the worship of idols that put Israel in the crosshairs of God. Their ultimate judgment is yet to unfold during the Great Tribulation. The idea of worshiping some craven image or statue is absurd and laughable to us. Yet, many of us place our faith in science, medicine, technology, philosophy, government, religion, and even our own knowledge ahead of or instead of God – that is idolatry. This is not to say that these disciplines aren’t useful and helpful, but we should never allow them to become idols. We can appreciate progress, but we must never bow down to it. (If you need science or archeology or philosophers or anything else to prove the Word of God for you to believe – you worship idols) “Worship the Lord your God and serve him only”
Exodus 20:3-4
You must not have any other gods except me. “You must not make for yourselves an idol that looks like anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the water below the land. 5 You must not worship or serve any idol, because I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God.
God is not your problem. When things go wrong, we always look for someone else to blame. This is exactly what the people of God did. They listened to false prophets and rejected God’s instructions ending up wandering from one place to another weary and hungry. They were exiled and endured all kinds of hardships. What did they do - they blamed God for their troubles. Unfortunately, we often do the same thing. Whenever you are going through a difficult time or encounter troubling circumstances and events don’t blame God instead run to God He is your ever-present help if you will let Him. God’s not your problem.
Psalm 46:1 (NLT)
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
The choice is yours, you either quit or keep going, you either choose life or death, you choose either blessing or cursing. What are you going to choose? These are not one-time decisions. Every day we must choose. The situations, circumstances, events, tragedies, and difficulties that confront us don't determine our destiny, it is how we respond that will determine our direction and ultimate destiny in life. The good news is you don’t have to go it alone. God is with you. The Holy Spirit is your helper and comforter, He is leading and guiding you if you will listen and let Him. Choose to keep going, choose life, choose blessing!
Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT)
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life so that you and your descendants might live!
Life is filled with battles – finances, relationships, temptations, pressures, and powers of darkness all trying to discourage you and stop you from doing good. (Eph. 6:12) You may be in the middle of a battle right now. Things may look impossible. I have good news. If we ask for God’s help, God will fight for us – and He always wins. But how can you let God fight for you? 1) realize the battle is not yours, it belongs to the Lord, 2) remember it is not by your might or strength but by His Spirit and power, 3) do what you can but trust God with the results (2 Sam 10:12) The battle belongs to the Lord let Him fight for you.
2 Chronicles 20:15
“Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged… for the battle is not yours but God's”
The Lord will rebuke the devourer! God has promised to rebuke the devourer for our sake, yet most Christians are being devoured by the enemy. Why? They are not releasing their faith. You must believe for God's Word to work. God’s Word works by faith. God has promised He would save everyone, but only for those who believe. I hear well-meaning people say, “I don't need the devourer rebuked for my sake, Jesus rebuked the devourer for me on the cross forever, it's a done deal." . Yes, Jesus defeated Satan 2000 years ago, but the devil is still loose “looking for those he can devour.” (1Pt. 5:8) Don’t let the devil steal, kill, and destroy your finances, family, faith, and life. Start saying out loud that the devourer is rebuked in your life! When things go wrong, expect God the Father to back you up and work it out! Set yourself in agreement with this promise of God that He will work on your behalf! He is watching over His word to make it good in your life today! The devourer is rebuked for your sake!
Malachi 3:10-11
… And test me (prove) Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,…”
Honesty is God’s policy; however, most people don’t believe this. So, in order to get ahead or to stay out of trouble they cut moral corners when it comes to telling the truth. Many don’t even know that the truth is. They believe they establish their “own truth”. Remember God rewards the honest and He hates liars. (Pv. 6:17) Honesty is still the best policy. When you are honest, God will honor your life, and He will send blessings your way. It is the way it has always been — and it will always be — the best policy. Be known as a person who tells the truth.
Proverbs 11:3-5 (NLT)
Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people.
Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from
death. The godly are directed by honesty; the wicked fall beneath their load of sin.
God created us to be social beings. We need close and meaningful relationships to thrive and fulfill God’s divine purpose. Unfortunately, in a world filled with all kinds of “social media” relationships have been impacted for the most part negatively. It is true technology can often help facilitate meeting new people and help us stay connected when far apart, but it also hinders the development of good social skills. People have become more isolated and often find it more difficult to develop close personal relationships. We need good Godly friends who will listen, care, stick close, and be there to encourage, comfort, and help when needed. The best way to gain friends is to be friendly. Use social media to help connect but also use it to facilitate personal face-to-face interpersonal time in a safe environment.
Proverbs 18:24
A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
When someone says “Praise the Lord” what do you think? Do you think they are strange, or it’s inappropriate, does it make you uncomfortable? King David didn’t feel shy about expressing his praises to the Lord. (2sam. 6:14) We shouldn’t either. He is worthy of our praise. There are so many reasons for us to praise the Lord. Psalm 145 gives us several – God is great (v. 3), God does mighty wonderful deeds (vv. 4-6), He is righteous (v. 7), God is gracious, compassionate, patient, and loving, (vv. 8-9) He rules over an everlasting kingdom, (v. 13) God is righteous and loving in all He does (v. 17) He stays near to those who call on Him (v. 18) God hears our cries and saves us (vv. 19-20) Let’s praise the Lord for He is great and greatly to be praised.
Psalm 150:6
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD!
The best way to survive a walk through a minefield is to avoid it altogether. The best way to avoid being entrapped by temptation is to run away and flee. We need to be alert and on guard about the schemes of the enemy. God is faithful He will provide a way of escape. So, don’t be ignorant – know your weaknesses and avoid the minefields of temptation.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
How much you know has no connection with how wise you are. The world is filled with knowledgeable and smart people but many have little common sense and lack wisdom. No one is born wise it takes time to grow wise. Wisdom is only gained through a consistent reading of the Word and time with Jesus. Jesus is the source of true wisdom. (Col. 2:3) The benefits of Godly wisdom are numerous here are 7 of them–
1. Helps You To Live A Godly Life.
2. Helps You Have Eternal Life.
3. Helps You Grow Spiritually.
4. Helps You Make Wise Decisions.
5. Helps You Find Your Divine Purpose.
6. Keeps You From Being Led Astray (deceived).
7. Brings Wealth And Honor Upon You.
Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
How important is prayer to you? If you really believe prayer is important and makes a difference you will make time to pray. Not only are our prayers important, but the prayers of others make a huge difference. I am forever grateful for 3 elderly ladies in our church who prayed for me. Early in my ministry, I had a couple who prayed for us and our ministry. My mother is a prayer. There is power in prayer. Here are four keys to effective prayers -
1. Be consistent. Set a regular time to pray.
2. Be persistent. Make prayer a priority and work through the 3. distractions.
3. Be specific. Don’t just pray general prayers. God loves the details.
4. Be faithful. Show up. Others are counting on you.
Prayer changes everything.
Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
A life of faith is not a me thing but a we thing. Isolation is a silent killer. When we try to do life in our own ability without the help of the Holy Spirit and others eventually, we crash. Don’t think you can live a life for Christ and not be connected. First, connected to the one who gives us life, sustains us, protects us, provides for us, delivers us, and guides us. Second, connected with other believers who will stand with us, challenge us, encourage us, and walk with us.
Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron – one man sharpens another
God defines unity as pleasant and precious. Unity doesn’t come without effort. Too often our differences are over unimportant issues. Be willing in these situations to be flexible. Paul tells us to, “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Eph. 4:3) Being in unity doesn’t mean we have to agree on everything. But we must agree on the thing that matters most – loving God and loving one another. Want God to command His blessing on you? Live in unity.
Psalm 133:1 & 3
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!... For there the Lord commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.
We stand before God redeemed, forgiven, and righteous not because we are worthy, but because of God’s mercy. God is merciful and gracious. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. We deserve the judgment of God, but because of mercy, we are forgiven. Mercy triumphs over judgment. (James 2:13) Grace is getting what we don’t deserve. By His grace, we are saved. We don’t deserve it, but God gives it to us anyway when we accept Jesus as our savior. Praise Him for His mercy and grace.
Ephesians 2:4
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us”
Every true success, worthwhile accomplishment, or great achievement is because of God. It’s natural to want to take credit, but we should ask God to glorify His name, not ours. It is only because of God’s grace, mercy, and the abilities He has given us that we can do anything. (John 15:5) When God allows you to succeed, remember to give credit and thanks to God. Glorify the Lord!
1 Corinthians 10:31
“…whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
Schools test students for knowledge and intelligence. There is no test for wisdom. You can be a brain yet be a fool. Academics can’t train you to have wisdom. True wisdom does not come from any human sources. This is why so many well-educated people make so many foolish choices. Jesus is the source of all true wisdom. (Col. 2:3) Proverbs 1:7 tells us that true wisdom begins with reverence for the Lord. Get wisdom by pursuing Jesus through His Word, by praying and asking God for wisdom. God wants to fill you with His wisdom. (Jm. 1:5)
Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
Punishment is a punitive action done to make the offender repay the debt they have incurred. It is done for the benefit of the offended rather than for the offender.
Discipline is a corrective action done to change the negative behavior of the offender. It is done for the benefit of the offender rather than for the offended.
Consequences are the negative, natural chain of events that occur because of our poor choices and actions. They are not done to someone, rather they are self-inflicted wounds resulting from personal choices.
Punishment Is Condemning. Discipline Is Correcting. Consequences Are Causational
Punishments deal with the past. Consequences are often what we deal with in the present. And discipline looks towards a better future. Father God disciplines and corrects His children
Hebrews 12:5-6
And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.
Do you know what God has promised you? Do you believe God keeps His promises? There are over 5000 promises in the Bible. While people may break their promises and disappoint you, God never does. He is completely reliable. You can trust Him. He is faithful! Here’s the deal – you have to possess His promises. Here are 25 promises for you – meditate on them and possess them – they belong to you.
1 Cor. 1:20
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
He will never leave you. (Hebrews 13:5)
He will give you peace. (John 14:27)
He will always be with you. (Matthew 28:20)
He will never abandon you. (Psalm 27:10)
He will never abandon you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
He will never leave you helpless. (Isaiah 41:10)
He will give you strength. (Isaiah 40:29)
He will never give up on you. (Romans 8:31-39)
He will always love you. (1 John 4:19)
He will always provide for you. (Matthew 6:25-34)
He will guide you. (Psalm 23:1-6)
He will comfort you. (Psalm 34:18)
He will always forgive you. (1 John 1:9)
He will strengthen you. (Philippians 4:13)
He will empower you. (Ephesians 3:20)
He will never fail you. (2 Timothy 2:13)
He will always protect you. (Psalm 91:1-16)
He will restore you. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
He will heal you. (Isaiah 53:5)
He will give you eternal life. (John 3:16-18)
He will never condemn you. (Romans 8:1)
He will deliver you. (Psalm 34:17-19)
He will prosper you. (3 John 2)
He will give you hope. (Romans 15:13)
He will give you joy. (Nehemiah 8:10)
Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, today we can meet with God one on one anytime and anyplace. Fortunately, we don’t have to visit a temple or wait for a priest to commune with Father God anymore. When the busyness of this world comes crashing in take a moment to get away and spend time alone with Jesus – it will be well worth your time!
Hebrews 4:16
"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
You are either righteous or you are not. The only way to be righteous is through faith in Christ. He makes us righteous. So, if you are a follower of Christ, you ARE righteous. You can’t become righteous by any amount of good things you do – that is self-righteousness. When we receive Christ He takes our sins and gives us His righteousness. That’s what I call love and grace.
2 Cor. 5:21
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Fear is from the devil, and it’s the enemy of our faith. It directly contradicts the Word. The world is filled with fear. But we’re not of the world we are children of God and citizens of the Kingdom of God. Fear causes us to question and doubt what God says. It leads to unbelief and moves us away from trusting God. Life can send us trouble at any time, but as believers, we never have to be afraid of it. We don’t have to tolerate fear. 1 John 4:18 tells us, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear:” We have the love of God in us so trust the Lord and fear not. He is faithful.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a Spirit[j] of fear but of power and love and self-control.
Taste and see that the Lord is good. God is good all the time. He promises great blessings to those who trust in Him. He heals us, provides for us, protects us, guides us, delivers us, helps us, and more. Have you tasted the goodness of God? He has set a table before you. The master is calling - "Come and dine". Trust Him and taste and see His goodness. Try it… you’ll like it!
Psalm 34:8
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
To question or doubt God’s Word. Think about it… Satan did not tempt Adam and Eve to murder, steal, or lie… He tempted them to question the word of God.
Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
What is your wall? It is the great work God has for your life. It is your divine purpose. It is the call of God on your life – for your family, your work, your ministry, and your testimony. The enemy will try to distract you, lure you away, and attack you to get you out of God’s plan for your life. Don’t come down off your wall. Stay the course…finish well…trust God and watch the Lord move.
Nehemiah 6:2-3
I knew they were scheming to hurt me so I sent messengers back with this: “I’m doing a great work; I can’t come down. Why should the work come to a standstill just so I can come down to see you?”
Don’t let excuses like … I’m too old, I’m not old enough, I don’t know enough, I haven’t been saved long enough, I’m too busy, I’m not qualified, etc. keep you from serving the Lord. As followers of Christ, we are all called to serve the Lord. We serve the Lord by serving others. There are many ways we can do this. Obviously serving in the local church is a great way to serve the Lord – ushers, greeters, the nursery, children's ministry, small groups, prayer ministry, men's and women's ministries, etc. Your pastor will be very grateful if you show up to help. We can also serve others by being an encouragement, or lending a helping hand, visiting the sick and elderly, etc. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). And when you do serve, do it with gladness!
Psalm 100:2
Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.
Most people are thermometers. They react to whatever is happening around them and in the world. More than ever we need believers to be bold in their faith and be a positive influence on what is happening around them and in their world – not just react. YOU can set the temperature of your world! How? With your words and attitude! They are the thermostat of your life. What temperature are you setting today? Be a thermostat…
Matthew 5:13,14,16
You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world... let your light shine before others,.
Well, God is everywhere – He is “omnipresent”, but there is a more intimate and tangible way He manifests His presence for His people. In the Old Testament God came to live among the people in “the Tabernacle”. This first tabernacle was built by Moses according to the specific plans God gave him for it. (Ex. 26) When Moses completed construction God came and filled it with His presence and glory. (Ex. 40) It was a portable structure that the Israelites used as they traveled through the wilderness. It was approximately 15 feet by 45 feet.
Solomon's temple replaced Moses Tabernacle. He completed its construction in 957 BC and as soon as he finished the glory of God filled the temple. (2 Chron. 7) The temple was destroyed in 587 BC by Nebuchadnezzar and rebuilt in ca. 515 BC. Solomon’s temple stood in Jerusalem for almost 400 years. It was the crown jewel of Jerusalem and the center of worship to the Lord. It was about 180 feet by 90 feet.
Today, God continues to dwell among his people but in an even more intimate way. After Jesus' ascension into heaven, he sent the Holy Spirit to live inside every Christian. God lives in us. We are the temple of God now. Don’t miss God’s presence in your life – experience it every day and enjoy it. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.
1 Corinthians 6:19
“do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”
It's been a week since Jesus rode into Jerusalem. A lot has happened since that triumphant entry. Jesus was arrested, falsely accused, beaten, and crucified. Things looked bleak. All hope seemed lost, but on that Sunday everything changed forever. The Sabbath is over and as the women come to the tomb Mary Magdalene could not believe her eyes. The stone was rolled away and Jesus was gone. They then heard a familiar voice - it was Jesus - He was alive. Dropping their spices and ointments and being filled with life they rushed to tell others. That first resurrection Sunday set the pattern for the rest of history - - when resurrection life gives us life we then go tell others that He is risen. Have a super blessed day!
Luke 24:1-6
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them,
Should believers repent of sin? Absolutely! Here’s the thing, if we don’t understand what repentance is or what the purpose of repentance for believers is, we end up getting it wrong. So, here’s how we can get it right.
First, repentance isn’t just being sorry or simply confessing our sin. Sorrow can lead to repentance and confessing our sin is a step towards repentance. True repentance is a choice and is made possible because of Jesus. It is not something we can do in our own power, but with the grace of God. (Not saving grace, but “standing grace” Rom. 5:2) It is a choice to make a “permanent” change in our direction, thinking, and actions that are contrary to the ways of God. (Many people have been extremely sorrowful for their sinful behavior, but never change. They confess their sin, but never change their direction) Repentance involves taking responsibility for our sin by deliberately turning from it and committing to walk in obedience to God by the power of His Spirit.
What is the purpose of repentance for believers?
First, as believers, we don’t repent to get rid of our sins. Only Jesus gets rid of sin, and He did that once and for all 2000 years ago. (Heb. 10) We don’t repent to get right with God or to gain access to His presence. We are right with God because of Jesus' righteousness, and we have access to His presence any moment of the day, even if we have sinned (God forbid).
If we sin as a believer, we repent to regain a good conscience and a sense of peace. When we are truly born again we are justified once and for all, so our repentance is not a new justification but a renewed application of our justification. We ask God to forgive us not to be re-justified but to walk before him in confidence that Christ has paid it all.
There is absolutely no contradiction between justification by grace through faith and our need for ongoing forgiveness of sin. The Lord expects believers to pray for forgiveness not for salvation, but for forgiveness from the consequences of our sin.
Rejoice in your forgiveness this Easter season. Jesus died on the cross for our forgiveness and arose from the grave for our life. Because He lives we live!
Matthew 3:8 (NET)
"Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance,"
Take the “Gos -pill” twice a day. The Word of God is health to your body. (Proverbs 4:20-22) God sent His Word to heal them. (Psalm 107:20) Take in the Word of God every day morning and night to be healed and stay healed. The great thing about taking “Gos-pills”- there are no side effects. The “pharmaceutical” world has a pill for every ailment but they all have a mile list of harmful and adverse effects. Be healed in Jesus' name and take God’s medicine.
Joshua 1:8
Keep this Book of the Law (word of God) always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (healthy and whole)
One is good and one is bad. I’ve been called stubborn by some, but it is only by people who don’t know the difference between stubborn and persistent! I believe we should all avoid being stubborn and strive to be persistent. Biblically persistence is associated closely with endurance and perseverance. Persistence keeps us from quitting and giving up in tough times. Persistence is positive and is “results-based.” Stubborn is negative and is “ego-based.” Persistence leads to positive outcomes. Stubbornness usually leads to trouble!
I wanted to be persistent, not stubborn. What say you?
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up
He is speaking to you. The only issue is do you recognize His voice. That was Samuel in 1 Samuel 3. God spoke to Samuel, but he thought it was Eli speaking. God spoke to him 3 times and all 3 times Samuel thought it was Eli. Finally, Eli told Samuel next time, “When he calls you, say, ‘Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.” (vs. 9) God doesn’t always use the sound of a human voice but He is ALWAYS speaking. To receive His message we must be ready to listen and act on what He tells us. Next time just say, “Speak Lord I your servant am listening”. You might just be surprised.
1 Samuel 3:10
Then the LORD came and stood nearby, calling as he had previously done, “Samuel! Samuel!” Samuel replied, “Speak, for your servant is listening!”
But, in the world individuals, groups, organizations, agencies, and societies make themselves the final authority without reference to God. They are their own authority and act on their own opinions of right and wrong—no wonder we are surrounded by confusion, hatred, violence, and debauchery. Let’s not fall into the same trap. Even as Christians we often make something else god in our life. If we don’t like what God says we simply ignore it or disregard it. Make sure God is your God and listen to Him and obey Him. It’s key to the abundant blessed life!
Psalm 95:7 (NET)
For he is our God; we are the people of his pasture, the sheep he owns. Today, if only you would obey him.
If Jesus defeated the devil, (and He did. Col. 2:15; Rev. 1:18) why would there need to be spiritual warfare? It is because the devil and his demonic forces are still loose. They are defeated, but for now still go about “like” a roaring lion looking for those who they can devour. (1Pt. 5:8) One day they will be thrown into the lake of fire for all of eternity. (Rev. 20:10) Until then as believers we are to be “alert” and “on guard”. Unfortunately, too many of us are asleep and unaware and unprepared and fall prey to the lies and deceptions of the enemy which is the only power they have.
The good news is the greater one lives on the inside of us and He is greater and stronger than anything the world or the god of this world can throw at us. We just need to be alert and prepared. Demonic forces flee at the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus. The Word of God is the sword of the spirit which will defeat the powers of darkness every time. When we resist the Devil he HAS to flee. (James 4:7)
Jesus has won the victory and for now we are an occupying army that must continue to enforce that victory. The good news God has empowered us and equipped us to successfully carry out our assignment. You are not meant for weakness. You are meant for strength—a strength that comes not from you, but to you, from Christ. Don't let the devil rob you of your family, health, joy, peace,...
Ephesians 6:10-13
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
God gave Israel the promised land. All they had to do was go in and possess it. There are dreams, visions, promises God has given you. These are your promised land. All you have to do is step out in faith and possess them. God knows the future, and as you follow His lead victory is assured. Just like the Israelite's had to face giants and battle the enemy, so must we face obstacles and fight battles of our unconquered land. Trust God and go ahead and take your land!
Joshua 1:3 & 9, 3
“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, Have I not commanded you?” 9 “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Some people can make anything sound convincing. There is so much information disseminated across social media and other forms of communication that seems true but is actually false. It is presented in a way that makes it sound logical and appears “almost good”. Discernment is not the ability to know the difference between good and evil but – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALMOST GOOD AND GOOD!
A Christian without discernment is like a submarine in a harbor plowing full speed ahead without radar or periscope. They are destined to become a spiritual shipwreck. Discernment is essential. But how do we get real spiritual discernment? By knowing and never wavering on God’s Word. Don’t just believe everything you hear even if it sounds convincing. Stay on guard against deception. Seek the leading of the Holy Spirit. Trust Him.
Proverbs 2:1-5 (NASB)
My son, if you will receive my words And treasure my commandments within you,
2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding; 3 For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; 4 If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the LORD And discover the knowledge of God.
We all face fears. Fear of failure, fear of man, fear of death, fear of rejection..., but we do not have to be in fear. Choose to face your fears. It takes courage to face your fears. Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is moving ahead in spite of your fear. It takes faith - trusting God... go ahead and do it afraid! When you face your fears, the thing you fear will turn away from you!
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
